The first name that should come out from a potential customer mouth when they think of health clubs, fitness centers, or fitness business should be yours. One example is the overuse of Xerox in making paper copies. Another is the universal reference to Kleenex instead of saying paper tissues. The list could go on and on but because these brands (especially in the fitness business) already have a strong name recognition they happen to have a strong marketplace presence.
Fitness Marketing, on the other hand, in the fitness center industry, is also as simple as placing classifieds and buying ad placements online unless you have competition. This is the part where you boost your efforts, go the distance and establish your health club’s brand or fitness business as the go-to place to get strong, healthy and fit.
With effective branding in your fitness business, you and your gym can be the definitive word in local fitness. Your fitness center will be everywhere and will become the brand that that first comes to mind and the sole choice among a sea of competition. If you go to Europe, you know you’ll find a Techno-Gym somewhere. Globally – there’s Gold’s Gym. Good, bad, or just popular, you know what they are and where they are. That is the kind of branding you’d like to promote your fitness center and health club into.
Then again, we would have to start locally to reach out to a certain few first. Build a presence in your community or reach out in social media networks. Talk to a neighbor and spread the news about the brand you are promoting, your fitness center business. You can always to connect to your target audience when you identify and promote this branded identity you are trying to build. You are no longer just another fitness center.
So, are you, as a gym owner, able to consider how different you are from your competitors? Are you branding your fitness marketing?
